Vanity Fair has not always been THE Vanity Fair. A man named Condé Montrose Nast, the CEO of Conde Nast publications, bought a mens fashion named DRESS and rebranded it, VAnity FAir & Dress in 1913. Vanity Fair’s first version was created in 1913-1936 but was only able to put out four publications due to the effects of the Great Depression, the magazine went out of business. The magazine was revived later in 1983.Vanity Fair is not just your run of the mill pretty-pictures-and-flimsy-articles magazine. The magazine’s use of controversial pictures/photoshops and extensive coverage of topics other than celebrities made it extremely popular. However the publication’s popularity stems beyond America into a number of other countries such as, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, France, Italy and Mexico. Vanity Fair maintains its popularity by keeping up with the times. VAnity Fair has established a social media presence using their Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and Pinterest accounts to document the glamorous lifestyle of fashion, food and traveling that attracts so many followers.
